Featured Athlete


JONCELYN PETERKIN -- Women's Basketball

Peterkin is a senior center on the Point Park University women's basketball team, and she is the this week's Featured Athlete (Dec. 14, 2011).

A native of West Mifflin, Pa., and a graduate of West Mifflin High School, Peterkin is averaging 10.3 points and a team-high 6.0 rebounds per game. Also an outstanding shot blocker who holds the Point Park records for career and single-season blocks, the 6-2 Peterkin ranks fifth in NAIA Division II at 2.7 blocks per game.

Peterkin is in her third year at Point Park after spending her freshman season at Carlow. She has averaged double figures the last two years, which began with her breakout year in 2010-11.

Highlights of her season this year include being named the MVP of Rio Grande's Bevo Francis Tournament, which Point Park won Nov. 11-12. Another high moment included a career-high 21 points in a big win at La Roche Nov. 17.
