Point Park runners compete at NAIA Cross Country National Championship

LAWRENCE, Kan. -- Three Point Park University women's cross country runners competed Saturday at the NAIA National Championship Meet in Lawrence, Kan., and freshman Katie Guarnaccia led the way for the Pioneers finishing the 5K race in 19:30 to place as the top runner from the KIAC in the meet.

Guarnaccia is a graduate of North Allegheny High School. She placed 115th of 336 runners to lead the Point Park team and the KIAC. Guarnaccia had a mile split of 6 mintes and 16 seconds to register the top placement and the fastest time ever for a Pioneers runner at the national meet.

Point Park's Kelsey Wilkins, a sophomore from Central Valley High School, had a time of 20:31 to place 245th. Junior Ashley Czerniewski-Hagan, from Baldwin High School, placed 275th with a time of 21:01.

KIAC team champion Asbury (Ky.) University placed 34th of 38 in the team standings. The Eagles' top runner was Katy Falkenberg, the KIAC individual champion, who was 152nd at the NAIA Meet with a time of 19:45.
