Sorce commits to Point Park softball

June 16, 2009

PITTSBURGH - Penn Hills shortstop Olivia Sorce has committed to Point Park, where she will be a member of the Pioneers' softball team next season. Sorce will be a freshman in the fall.

Sorce was a four-year starter for Penn Hills High School softball team, and she was one of four infielders selected to the WPIAL Section 2-AAAA all-section team this past year.

The signing of Sorce gives Point Park three incoming recruits who were named WPIAL all-section this past year. Courtney Manovich (1B, Franklin Regional) was selected from WPIAL Section 4-AAA and Amanda Ardinger (SS, Moon) was chosen from WPIAL section 1-AAA.

Sorce is the starting shortstop for one of Pittsburgh Power's top 18-and-under softball teams.

"Olivia is a very talented player with a lot of skills, and we are glad to add her to the team," said Point Park softball coach Michelle Coultas., who is pictured left. "She is a solid infielder who will make an immediate impact next year."

Point Park had a record of 22-14 last year fell one game shy of the American Mideast Conference playoffs with a 10-10 record.
