PITTSBURGH -- For the second year in a row, Point Park University second baseman Ashley Morran has been named NAIA Softball Honorable Mention All-American. Morran, a native of Washington, Pa., and a graduate of Trinity High School, hit .388 with 13 home runs and 56 RBIs in 44 games as a junior during the 2013 season.

The list of NAIA Softball All-Americans was released by the NAIA on Sunday (June 2). There were 20 players each on the first and second teams, and there were 20 players named honorable mention. There were a total of 12 infielders on the first and second teams combined, and although Morran fell short of that, she did make it on the list as one of the top 60 players in NAIA softball.

Morran's outstanding 2013 season included being named the KIAC Player of the Year and KIAC All-Conference First Team. She is a three-year starter for the Pioneers, who finished third in the KIAC Tournament and second place in the regular season with a final record of 31-13 overall and 22-6 KIAC.

Morran ranked highly in many areas of the NAIA statistical leaders. Her career-high 56 RBIs in just 44 games put her seventh in the country in RBIs per game at 1.273. She had 31 of her 54 hits go for extra bases, which gave her the 12th-best slugging percentage in the NAIA at .813.

Morran also ranked 14th in the NAIA in total bases per game (2.568), 18th in home runs per game (.295), 21st in total home runs (13) and 30th in total doubles (16). The 13 homers were a career-high for Morran, who has 29 for her career.

The 5-10 junior from Trinity High School led the KIAC in runs, RBIs, doubles and total bases. She was second in the KIAC in home runs and slugging percentage. Also able to hit for high average, she was seventh in the conference at .388, and her 54 hits were fourth in the league.

For her three-year career, Morran is hitting .363 with 29 home runs and 127 RBIs in 123 games. Her first NAIA Softball Honorable Mention All-American honor came last year when she hit .402 with 10 homers and 45 RBIs as a sophomore.
