OWENSBORO, Ky. -- Point Park University's Kristen Zelenka and Kate Reese each toosed a two-hitter to lead the Pioneers to a pair of shutout wins at Brescia (Ky.) University, 1-0 and 3-0, in KIAC softball action on Saturday.

Zelenka, a senior right-hander from Washington, Pa., threw a complete-game in the 1-0 victory to start the day. She struck out five, walked none and retired the last 17 batters she faced. The first batter she faced doubled, but that was the only hit that left the infield.

Point Park (8-6, 2-2 KIAC) got the only run it needed when it put together three of its five total hits in the top of the sixth. Courtney Manovich, a junior first baseman from Murrysville, Pa., was 2 for 3 with a winning RBI. Manovich delivered a two-out single in the sixth after Amanda Ardinger and Ashley Morran had singled earlier in the rally.

Reese, a sophomore righty from Cresson, Pa., allowed only two hits in winning the nightcap, 3-0. She struck out two, walked none and faced only two batters over the minimun in the game. The second hit didn't come until there was two outs in the seventh.

Ashley Morran, a junior second baseman from Washington, Pa., was 2 for 4 with an RBI and a run. Sophore catcher Lauren Fevola, from Plano, Texas, was 2 for 3 with an RBI.

Point Park took a 1-0 lead when it strung together four singles in the fourth, the last of which came from Fevola. Morran, Brea Magnone and Gabi Vogt set the table for Fevola's RBI.

The Pioneers tacked on two more runs in the fifth -- both unearned -- when Morran blasted an RBI triple and scored on a wild pitch. Morran knocked in Amanda Ardinger, who reached on an infield error with two outs.

Brescia is now 5-9 overall, 1-5 KIAC after the pair of losses. The Bearcats entered the day with a 3.10 team ERA and a .313 team batting average.

Point Park's next games are Tuesday at Gannon with the doubleheader set to begin at 2:30 p.m.
