PITTSBURGH -- Senior shortstop Ashley Morran and junior right-hander Megan Dyer have been named the KIAC Softball Player & Pitcher of the Week for Point Park University March 24-30, 2014, the conference announced on Monday (March 31).

Morran, from Washington, Pa., and Trinity High School, batted .455 (5 for 11) with two home runs, a double, four RBIs and five runs in a 4-0 week for Point Park (12-8, 7-1 KIAC). Morran's big week upped her season average to .358 to go along with five home runs and 20 RBIs. She is tied for the KIAC lead in homers and is second in RBIs.

The reigning KIAC Player of the Year was 3 for 3 with a double and scored the game's only run in a 1-0 win over Malone March 27. On March 30 at Berea, she homered in both ends of the doubleheader, including a three-run shot in the second game.

Dyer, a junior from Lake Orion, Mich., went 2-0 with a 1.50 ERA and two complete games last week. Dyer (5-1), a transfer from Macomb (Mich.) CC, beat NCAA Division II Malone, 4-3, and then shutout Berea (Ky.), 6-0, for a KIAC victory.

Dyer has won her last five starts to power Point Park to its current, nine-game win streak. For the year, She is 5-1 with a 1.87 ERA, and opponents are hitting .196 off of her.

Point Park returns to action April 2 at Penn State-Fayette for a doubleheader at 5:30 p.m.
