Point Park-Holy Names Unaffiliated Group Match set for 4 p.m. (ET) on Nov. 12

Updated: Nov. 9, 2011 at 3:00 p.m.

PITTSBURGH -- The Point Park University volleyball team will host Holy Names (CA) University in the Unaffiliated Group match on Saturday, Nov. 12 for the right to advance to the NAIA national tournament. The match will start at 4 p.m. at Point Park's Student Center Gym at 330 Blvd. of the Allies in Pittsburgh.

Point Park's student radio station WPPJ AM-670 will broadcast the match live on internet radio. Fans can listen to the play-by-play action online at www.wppjradio.com starting at 4 p.m.

Updates will also be provided on the Point Park athletics twitter account @PointParkSports or www.twitter.com/PointParkSports

Admission is $5 for adults, $2 for students and Free with Point Park Student ID. Seating is General Admission. Parking is available at public garages on 3rd and 4th avenues as well as the Blvd. of the Allies.

Point Park (35-5) is in the match as the American Mideast Conference champion, and Holy Names (16-9) is in the match as the California-Pacific Conference champion. Each of those conferences has five teams, which falls short of the required six schools for an automatic bid to the NAIA national tournament.

So, the AMC and the Cal-Pac formed an Unaffiliated Group to qualify one school to the national tourney. The winner of Saturday's match will advance to the NAIA Opening Round, a regional match of the national tournament, on Nov. 19.

The 32nd Annual NAIA National Championship will have its final site competition held Nov. 29 to Dec. 3 in Sioux City, Iowa.
