Point Park gets first win of the year, 11-0 over Fisher College

CHESWICK, Pa. -- The Point Park women's soccer team got its first victory of the year Saturday, an 11-0 win over new American Mideast Conference member Fisher at Founders Field.

Point Park (1-5, 1-1 AMC) jumped out to a 3-0 lead the first six minutes and got two goals apiece fom Kristina Stammer, Amanda Mikolay and Ryan Holl.

Holl also added two assists, and she tied Lauren Evans for the most assists on the day.

Fisher (0-6, 0-5 AMC) is from Boston and just joined the AMC this season after being a member of the NAIA Sunrise Conference.

Megan Kuntz, Stammer and Evans scored goals before the game was six minutes old. Kileigh Williams scored on a penalty kick to make it 4-0 in the 17th minute, and Stammer notched her second goal in the 23rd minute.

Mikolay added her two goals just before the half for a 7-0 Point Park lead at the break.

Point Park added four goals over the final 20 minutes of the game with two coming from Holl, and Lindsay Carey and Emily Levier putting in the others.

Picking up assists on the day were Stammer, Kuntz, Carey, Casey Baldwin and Mikolay.

Anna Shaw and Liz Velez combined on the shutout. Shaw played 40 minutes and Velez played 50.

Point Park hosts Fisher for another AMC game Sunday at 1 p.m. at Founders Field.

Saturday's victory was the first AMC win for Point Park since Sept. 16, 2008.
