PITTSBURGH -- Point Park University women's soccer swept the KIAC Women's Soccer Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week awards for the week of Sept. 29-Oct. 5. The Pioneers went a perfect 3-0 last week, and midfielder Megan Kuntz and defender Jasmine Meichle received the weekly conference honors, respectively.

Kuntz, a senior from Newville, Pa., scored two goals on the week, both of which were game-winners. She broke a scoreless tie with a goal in the 24th minutes of the Pioneers' 5-0 home victory over Cincinnati Christian Oct. 2.

Two days later, Kuntz scored the game-winning goal with 12 seconds left in the first overtime to beat Asbury (Ky.), 2-1, in overtime in another KIAC home game Oct. 4.

Point Park is currently riding a four-game win streak during which its defense has been very strong. In the three victories last week, Meichle, a junior from Camberley, England, led the defensive charge as a center back. She keyed a defensive unit that gave up only one goal in the 300 minutes of game action on the week.

The Pioneers won at Waynesburg, 1-0, in double overtime, beat CCU, 5-0, at home and earned the 2-1 home victory over Asbury in overtime. Meichle, a transfer from Cloud County (Kan.) Community College, has started 10 of 13 games at central defender in this her first year with the Pioneers (6-7, 2-1 KIAC).

Point Park's next games are Oct. 12 at Midway (Ky.) and Oct. 13 at Georgetown (Ky.) for a weekend road trip.
