Point Park (1-8 overall, 0-5 AMC) tied the score at 1-1 late in the first half on a goal by Jo Jo Altebrando (Montoursville/Montoursville). Altebrando's unassisted tally came in the 37th minute, and the junior defender established a career high with her second goal of the year.

The game remained tied until Brittany Brooks scored the game-winner for Shawnee State (7-3, 4-2) in the 74th minute. Staci White assisted on the play.

With the win, the Bears took sole possession of third place in the AMC with 12 points, which is six behind Houghton (6-1) and Roberts Wesleyan (5-1-2).

Saturday's loss marks the fourth time that Point Park has lost, 2-1, this season. The Pioneers will try to end their seven-game losing streak Monday by hosting Mountain State for a non-conference game at 2 p.m.

Shawnee State had taken a 1-0 lead in the 29th minute when Kelley Bowles scored a goal after taking an assist from Cindi Hay.

The Bears held a 14-10 advantage in shots, and Point Park goalkeeper Liz Velez (Edinboro/General McLane) made five saves in 90 minutes of action.
