Carlow pulls away with two goals in second half

Sept. 29, 2009

CHESWICK, Pa. - Carlow broke a 1-1 halftime tie with two goals in the second half to secure a 3-1 victory over Point Park in an American Mideast Conference women's soccer match at Founders Field Tuesday.

Point Park (1-5 overall, 0-3 AMC) tied the score at 1-1 with an unassisted goal by Ashley Goodsell (Southampton, N.J./Seneca) in the first half. But the first-career goal by the freshman forward was the only tally that Point Park could muster versus Carlow (4-3, 1-2).

Point Park and Carlow share Founders Field as a home venue, but Tuesday's game was a home contest for Carlow.

Tuesday's game was the Pioneers' first game in 10 days and their third game in the past 17 days. Point Park was closed last week due to the Pittsburgh (G-20) Summit, and no athletic practices or games were held from Sept. 23-26.

Point Park will try to get back on track Saturday in an AMC game versus Roberts Wesleyan at Founders Field. Game time is 6 p.m.
