Pioneers fall behind early in AMC loss to Daemen

Sept. 12, 2009

CHESWICK, Pa. - Point Park University fell behind Daemen, 2-0, in the first 17 minutes of Saturday's American Mideast Conference women's soccer game and wound up losing, 2-1.

Daemen (3-2 overall, 1-0 AMC) got on the scoreboard seven minutes into the contest when Kelly Dreimiller gave the Wildcats a 1-0 lead. Ten minutes later, Lindsay Miller found the back of the net for an early, 2-0 cushion.

Point Park (1-3, 0-2) cut the deficit in half on an unassisted goal by Angela Olivieri (Edinboro/General McLane) in the 58th minute. But that lone tally wasn't enough to overcome the early hole.

Liz Velez (Erie/General McLane) made four saves in 90 minutes as Point Park's goalkeeper. Daemen held a slim, 9-8 lead in shots.

Point Park welcomes Geneva to Founders Field Saturday for a non-conference game at 2 p.m.
