Point Park's 4x200 relay winning team of (L to R) Jahniah McAllister, Amber Brown, Chereese Langley and Taelor Fowler earned the first event win in Point Park track and field history.

ALLIANCE, Ohio -- The first-ever event victory in school history highlighted the Point Park University women's indoor track and field performance on Saturday at the Mt. Union Jim Wuske Invitational.

The Pioneers took first place in the 4 x 200 meter relay as the team of Jahniah McAllister (Monroeville, Pa.), Amber Brown (Warren, Ohio), Chereese Langley (DuBois, Pa.) and Taelor Fowler (Penn Hills, Pa.) led from start to finish and won by nearly a second with a school-record time of 1:48.98.

Point Park is in its first year of track and field, and the 4 x 200 relay victory was the first event win for the Pioneers men's or women's team. Saturday marked the fourth meet in team history.

The Point Park women had many standout performances at Mt. Union as the Pioneers continue to improve. Another four school records fell on the day.

The highest individual placement on the day went to freshman distance runner Katie Guarnaccia. The North Allegheny HS grad was second in the 3,000 meters with a time of 11 minutes and 11 seconds.

Sophomore Kelsey Wilkins, from Central Valley HS, set a school record in the 800 meters with a time of 2:30.10. That put Wilkins in sixth place in the event. Emily Maxwell had been the previous school-record holder in the event, and she was 11th on Saturday at 2:35.96.

Point Park's relay runners also fared well in their individual events. Fowler was fourth in the 60-meter dash with a school-record time of 8.23 seconds, which bested her previous school mark. Langeley showed well in the 60 meters as well with a 12th-place time of 8.39 seconds.

McAllister was eighth in the 200 meters with a time of 27.55 seconds. She was instrumental in the 4x200 meter relay win as she got the Pioneers out to an early lead that they never relinquished. She also came up with a school record in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.81 seconds, which knocked 0.26 seconds off her previous school record. That was good for 13th place.

Other highlights on the track were Olukemi Olugbakinro placing 11th in the 400 meters (1:04.58) and Brown placing 17th in the same event (1:06.99). In the mile, Wilkins was 13th (5:46), Guarnaccia was 14th (5:49) and Alexis Sherman was 22nd (6:46).

In the shot put, Vanessa Sprando represented the Pioneers with a toss of 8.76 meters.
