Ride the Incline

The Monongahela Incline and Duquesne Incline overlook one of the world's great cityscapes. Tourists marvel at the skyline view while riding two of only a few remaining inclines in the country. The inclines remain the best way for thousands of Mount Washington residents get to their jobs, entertainment and shopping in Downtown Pittsburgh and Station Square (portauthority.org). Riding the Monongahela Incline to the top, you can take a short walk to any of the viewing pods for the best views of the city!  Take a short walk down Shiloh Street to visit one of the many restaurants, get some sweet treats at Grandview Bakery, or stop and get a coffee or some ice cream.  For a nice dinner out, use your Incline pass and head up the Duquesne Incline for some fine dining or tour the Duquesne Incline Museum.  Your ticket purchase will be good for two full-fare trips (one round-trip) and can be used on either incline.  The Exploring Pittsburgh Shuttle stop for this event is Station Square (Sheraton Hotel) and is closest to the Monongahela Incline, although both are within walking distance of the shuttle stop. Both lower stations are also within a 10-20 minute walk of campus. For alternate transportation options, visit the Resources page.
