Brackets 101

Brackets Logo, Benefiting the Myron Cope Scholarship, Brakets 101

Brackets 101 is a unique annual event focusing on the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament and benefiting the Myron Cope Scholarship Fund for students in Point Park University’s School of Communication. It is held each year on the Monday in March following the NCAA’s “Selection Sunday.”

In just four years, Brackets 101 has raised more than $75,000 for this endowed scholarship that benefits journalism and communication students who might not otherwise be able to complete their academic programs and realize their professional dreams.

This year’s Brackets 101 event will be held on March 18, 2013, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. on the basketball court at Point Park’s Student Center and will feature:

  • A panel of sports experts who will engage in a lively and entertaining analysis of the tournament brackets;
  • Tailgate-style buffet dinner; and
  • Silent and live auctions including tickets to the hottest sports events in town and autographed items from local and national sports favorites.

Former Steelers All-Pro linebacker Andy Russell, one of Cope's closest friends, has served as honorary chairman of the Brackets 101 committee since its inception. He is joined at the event each year by other Steelers alumni to pay tribute to Cope’s contributions to journalism.
