Commencement Central

You are cordially invited to celebrate with us the Commencement of Point Park University's 2010 Graduates. This formal occasion marks the accomplishment of a chapter in their lives. This achievement has been met due to each student's hard work, dedication and support of their families. It is a life changing moment that allows each student to be prepared and ready to open a new chapter in their lives. This is a special time to honor one's family and professors as well as be honored by the institution.       

Deadline to RSVP is April 26, 2010. Please make sure to do so by clicking on the Register Button, top right. Graduates who apply from graduation with Office of the Registrar and RSVP by April 2, 2010 will be recognized in the commencement program. 

Note: This ceremony is for undergraduate students only. If you are receiving a Master's Degree, please register for the Master's Degree Hooding and Commencement Ceremony.  

Commencement Policy Students who have completed or who are registered to complete all degree requirements by the end of Fall 2009, Spring 2010 semesters are permitted to participate in the commencement ceremony.   Students who are in good academic standing and who can finish their degree requirements by the end of the following Summer 2010 sessions according to a plan that has been reviewed and approved by their respective dean are also permitted to participate in the commencement ceremony.

Please join us for this excellent opportunity to get all of your commencement questions answered.  Complimentary graduation announcements and undergraduate honor cords will be distributed along with the sale of caps, gowns and class rings. Representatives from the Office of the Registrar, Student Service Center, Book Store and Alumni Office will be present to guide you through the graduation process.   

Cap and Gown:
A Cap and Gown are required during the ceremony.  They can be purchased at the Point Park University Bookstore, or at the Graduation Fair.  

Undergraduate Cap & Gown Pricing: $44.98

Announcements: Pick up your ten complimentary announcements at the graduation fair. Dates and times listed above. If you need additional announcements they can be purchased online at Balfour.

Parking Information:

Parking will be available in the surrounding arena lots for $5 per car.

Accessible parking spaces are located in the East and South parking lots. Valid disabled parking place cards are required. Space is limited and an early arrival is strongly recommended.

Seating and Ticket Information:
Seating is on a first-come first-served basis. Family and friends are NOT required to have a ticket. This free event is open to all families and friends. The main entrance is through Gate 1 and doors will open at 12:00 p.m.

Special Needs:
Accessible seating is located in the following sections: B5, B11, B14, B18, C1, C16, C31, C32, East Igloo 2 and 3, West Igloo 2 and 3.   The Mellon Arena has a limited number of wheel chairs available and will be used to escort individuals in need. This service is on a first-come, first-served basis. It is strongly recommended those who have limitations bring their own wheel chair.

The ceremony will be close captioned for those who are hearing impaired. When responding to attend the ceremony, please indicate other special accommodations you may require.

Graduates from the Class of 2010:

On behalf of the Point Park University community and the Point Park Alumni Association, we would like to extend our best wishes as you head into a new chapter of your life.  Earning a University degree is a significant accomplishment and you should be very proud of this achievement.  This year marks the 50th Commencement of Point Park in which the achievements of its graduates are acknowledged and celebrated.  Since starting out as a Junior College in 1960 our Alma Mater has gone through numerous other changes to become the dynamic Urban University from which you are graduating.  As one of the newest members of the Alumni Association you are a beneficiary of the proud history and traditions.  We welcome you and all of your classmates into our proud community of graduates.  In today’s digital age, you are able to stay connected with your friends and former Alumni to share the memories you made and those that await you in the new chapters of your life.  Your connection to fellow Alumni across the country and around the world will make for strong relationships as you share new and exciting accomplishments as well as reading the latest Point Park news and finding out about Alumni events being held very near to where your journey takes you.  We welcome and encourage you to attend Alumni programs and events.  There is no cost to membership of the Alumni Association.  Your membership and Alumni services are made available through the generosity of Alumni to the Annual Fund.   As a proud new Point Park graduate, I hope that you will consider supporting the University through this Fund with a gift that is suitable during the various stages of life you find yourself in.  Your interest and support will keep Point Park growing.  Again, on behalf of the Point Park University Alumni Association, congratulations on your graduation!
