Because of the overwhelming interest in this event, all activities for Family Weekend are SOLD OUT. Therefore, the registration is now closed. We appreciate your interest and look forwarding to seeing you at future Point Park University events.


Welcome  

We extend a warm invitation to all Point Park students and their families to attend Family Weekend 2012. This is a wonderful time for families to spend together enjoying some of the many opportunities available to their students, as well as exploring Downtown Pittsburgh, the vibrant home of our campus. This year Family Weekend will be held Friday, Oct. 12 through Sunday, Oct. 14, 2012.

You're invited to a cinematic experience on the big screen.  Come and see some of the exciting films our Cinema students are producing.  This collection of short films promises to have something for everyone from comedy to drama and represents work developed in an array of Cinema courses from freshman production classes to digital tools to senior thesis projects.  Approximate run time 40 minutes. THIS EVENT IS SOLD OUT!

Note: As per the 2012-13 Academic Calendar, Accelerated Classes for Saturday, Oct. 13, are on break.  All other Saturday classes will meet as scheduled.

Please keep in mind that even though students may not have classes on Saturday, they may have other school-related obligations such as show rehearsals, athletic games, etc.

Family Weekend Courtesy Shuttle
Continuous looping shuttle service will be available to those families who wish to visit and enjoy some of Pittsburgh's charming and unique neighborhoods.  Information on specific neighborhoods, as well as stops and shuttle times, will be included in the welcome packet that you will receive upon registration check-in. 

It is not necessary to register for "Exploring Pittsburgh".

Note: Shuttle service to/from the Carnegie Museum and Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium will not be provided.

The Carnegie Museums of Pittsburgh have a fascinating history dating back 115 years. But the story of who we are today—a collection of four dynamic, distinctive museums, and the Pittsburgh region’s home for great art and science exploration—is the real page turner. For more information, visit the Carnegie Museum website. Admission will include the Art and Natural History Museum in Oakland.

  Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium
One of six major zoo and aquarium combinations in the country is located on 77 acres of park land where it exhibits thousands of animals representing hundreds of species, including 22 threatened or endangered species. You and your family are able to enjoy all the park has to offer at your convenience.  Hours of operation are 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.; admission gates close at 4:00 p.m.  For more information, visit the Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium website.

Point Park University has arranged special rates at the below hotels.  To take advantage of these rates, inform the hotel you are with Point Park University Family Weekend.  These rates are available on a first-come, first-served basis and must be reserved prior to the cut-off date.  

Hotels will fill up quickly given the number of events happening in Pittsburgh in addition to Family Weekend. We urge you to book your hotel accommodations as soon as you are able so that you can take advantage of the special rates that we have secured for you.
