Safeguarding the Point Park campus
The Public Safety Department employs full-time public safety officers trained under Pennsylvania Act #235 state certification. They respond to safety incidents and emergencies on and around campus. All officers have Pennsylvania certification in CPR, AED, and first aid. These public safety officers patrol University-owned buildings, on foot and on bicycles, maintaining high visibility throughout the area.
Our officers are friendly, familiar faces on the Point Park campus, getting to know students, faculty and staff. They are ready to assist in all types of situations.
The Point Park dispatch center has more than 400 surveillance cameras, which are monitored by full-time public safety officers 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Entrances to all residence halls and buildings have security desks staffed by attendants controlling access 24 hours a day, seven days a week while school is in session. Each year, Point Park trains desk attendants in University security and fire safety procedures. All residence hall entrances have security doors that are monitored by both an electronic access system and a desk attendant.
