Security of Buildings

Academic and administrative areas on campus are normally locked after business hours unless they are being used for legitimate evening or educational purposes. A valid PPU ID card is required for campus access after 9pm Monday through Thursday, 6 pm on Friday, 5pm on Saturday, and all day Sunday. Persons wishing to gain access to the Library Center must present a valid PPU ID.

Department of Public Safety personnel have the authority and the responsibility to ask anyone, at any time, for their PPU ID if they question a person’s authorization to be on campus or in a particular area of any of the buildings.

Guests of resident students must be signed in at the Security Desk and provide a valid photo ID. Access to the Residence Halls is limited to: students and their authorized guests, Public Safety personnel, Residence Life personnel, and University personnel that are required to perform cleaning or maintenance. Only those persons who are authorized possession of a swipe card or key may enter the residence halls. Alarms are set for restricted areas, and interior building patrols are performed throughout the hours of darkness. The Campus computerized intrusion and fire alarms are monitored 24 hours a day by a Public Safety Officer.
