Financial Aid Appeals

Extenuating Circumstances may be appealed

Financial aid is based in part on the student and family's documented income and circumstances. If there is a change in the family's financial circumstances after the financial aid application is completed, the Office of Financial Aid may recalculate your eligibility based on anticipated income for next year. 

These following examples are circumstances that can be appealed:

  • Loss of job for at least 10 weeks in 2013
  • Reduction of income for at least 10 weeks in 2013
  • Reduction of child support in 2013
  • Separation or divorce in 2013
  • Any other financial circumstances that may affect the student attending Point Park University.

This type of appeal, due to an extenuating circumstance, will be reviewed by the director of financial aid. The file will be reviewed after all required documentation is collected and the review process can take up to three weeks.  Once a decision is determined, a formal letter will be sent via U.S. mail with the decision.
