Scholarships for full-time undergraduate students

All full-time students who are academically accepted for admission at Point Park, are automatically considered for a variety of merit-based scholarships and awards in recognition of their academic achievements and/or artistic achievements. For details, please review the scholarships and awards as described below.

Artistic Achievement Award
  • Must be a new, incoming full-time traditional undergraduate freshman or transfer.
  • Candidates will have demonstrated a high caliber of artistic ability through the artistic audition process and/or a personal interview.
  • Intended major must be in:
    • dance,
    • theatre arts,
    • cinema production,
    • digital arts, or
    • screenwriting 

No separate application required.  If criteria is met, candidates are awarded as a result of their artistic audition or interview and will be notified of award in their artistic decision letter.   return to top

$14,000
Dean's Academic
  • Must be a new, incoming full-time traditional undergraduate freshman or transfer.
  • Intended major must be in:
    • dance,
    • theatre arts,
    • cinema production,
    • digital arts, or
    • screenwriting  

Freshman Applicants:

  • Must have a 3.5 cumulative high school grade point average on a 4.0 scale.
  • Must have total of 1760 on the SAT (including the writing component), OR...
  • A composite score of 26 on the ACT

Transfer Applicants:

  • Must have a 3.5 cumulative grade point average    

No separate application required.  If criteria is met, candidates are awarded as a result of their artistic audition or interview and will be notified of award in their artistic decision letter.   return to top

Department 
  • Must be a new, incoming full-time traditional undergraduate freshman or transfer.
  • Must submit a personal essay to be considered for the award.  Click here for personal essay department scholarship criteria.  
  • Intended major must be in the:

    • School of Business

Schools review admissions files for department scholarship consideration in December, February, April and June.  Department scholarship award notification is sent separately and NOT included in the academic acceptance letter.

Director's Award
  • Must be a new, incoming full-time traditional undergraduate FRESHMAN for FALL 2011.
  • Must have between a 2.70 and 2.99 non-weighted, academic, cumulative high school grade point average in a college preparatory curriculum (based on a 4.0 scale).
  • Must have an SAT total of 1400 on all three sections - OR -an ACT composite score of 20.
  • Intended major must be in the:
    • School of Arts and Sciences
    • School of Business
    • School of Communication

No separate application required.  If criteria is met, candidates are automatically awarded when their application is reviewed for an admissions decision.  Candidate will be notified of award in their academic acceptance letter.    return to top

Freshman Award
  • Must be a new, incoming full-time traditional undergraduate FRESHMAN for FALL 2011.
  • Must have between a 2.50 and 2.69 non-weighted, academic, cumulative high school grade point average in a college preparatory curriculum (based on a 4.0 scale).
  • Must have an SAT total of 1300 on all three sections - OR -an ACT composite score of 18.
  • Intended major must be in the:
    • School of Arts and Sciences
    • School of Business
    • School of Communication

No separate application required.  If criteria is met, candidates are automatically awarded when their application is reviewed for an admissions decision.  Candidate will be notified of award in their academic acceptance letter.    return to top

Presidential
  • Must be a new, incoming full-time traditional undergraduate FRESHMAN.
  • Must have a 3.0 non-weighted, academic, cumulative high school grade point average in a college preparatory curriculum (based on a 4.0 scale).
  • Must have an SAT total of 1700 on all three sections - OR - an ACT composite score of 25.
  • Intended major must be in the:
    • School of Arts and Sciences
    • School of Business
    • School of Communication

Talent Apprenticeship
  • Must be a new, incoming full-time traditional undergraduate freshman or transfer.
  • Candidates may be offered a talent apprenticeship as a result of their artistic audition.  An apprenticeship award is a work assignment within the University.
  • Intended major must be in:
    • dance,
    • theatre arts,
    • cinema production,
    • digital arts, or
    • screenwriting

Transfer Award

  • Must have between a 2.50 and 2.99 cumulative GPA.

  • Must have a 3.50 or greater cumulative GPA. 
  • Intended major must be in the:

Retaining Merit Scholarships 

To retain merit scholarships, students must be enrolled as full-time student (12 to 18 credits per semester) in their respective program of study and maintain a 3.0 cumulative grade point average throughout the completion of their undergraduate studies.

Total Maximum Institutional Merit Aid

The total merit scholarship amount for ANY applicant will not exceed $14,000 per academic year.
