Federal Stafford Loan Program (Federal Family Education Loan Program)
- Graduate students at Point Park University who are taking a minimum of six credits per semester may apply for a Federal Stafford Loan.
- Graduate students are eligible to borrow a maximum of $20,500 per academic year under the Federal Stafford Loan program.
- Students who have financial need may have a maximum of $8,500 of the $20,500 total loan as a subsidized loan, which means the government pays the interest on the loan while the student is in school and in repayment.
- Students may pay the interest and principal, or defer both, on unsubsidized loans during the in-school periods. Repayment begins six months after the recipient concludes their education or is no longer enrolled on at least a half-time basis.
- The annual interest rate is determined by the federal government.
- Point Park University is an eligible Federal Stafford Loan KeystoneBEST lender for graduate students. Any proceeds from the Point Park University loan program must be used as need-based aid for students.
- New borrowers and students who have not borrowed a Federal Stafford Loan since July 1, 2000 should review the next steps to completing the loan application process.
