Student Financial Services Department - Code of Conduct


Point Park University prohibits officers, employees and agents of the institution that have loan responsibilities from accepting gifts from lenders and servicers of educational loans.  The term, “gift,” means any gratuity, favor, entertainment, hospitality, loan or other item having a monetary value.  The term includes a gift of services, transportation, lodging, or meals whether provided in kind, by way of a ticket, payment in advance or reimbursement after the expense has been incurred. 

All officers, employees, and agents of the institution are prohibited from contracting and consulting arrangements between Point Park University and a lender or services.  Any employee of the school’s financial aid and student accounts office must not accept any fee, payment or financial benefit, including stock options from a lender or affiliate of a lender.

Point Park University will not assign a particular lender to a first time borrower, or refuse or delay certification based on the borrower’s selection of a particular lender or guarantor.

Point Park University will not accept any staffing assistance from any lender, for a call center or financial aid or student accounts office staffing.

Any financial aid or student accounts office employee or other employees who work with loans or financial aid, who serve on a board, commission, or group established by a lender, cannot receive anything of value from the lender or servicer except reimbursement for reasonable expenses incurred in serving on such board.

Point Park University prohibits the acceptance of funds to use as Opportunity Loans by not requesting or accepting any offer for private educational loans in exchange for Point Park University providing the lender a specified number of loans or loan volume, or preferred lender status.
