The Office of Student Accounts is responsible for granting a student account clearance. This clearance is needed each semester. You cannot receive a current semester sticker on your ID card without a student account clearance. A current semester sticker is needed for you to have access to all Point Park University buildings and facilities.
Students are responsible for all financial obligations with the University.
Students are responsible to apply for financial aid and respond to all requests for information to support the request for financial aid.
The final step in the registration process is securing clearance from the Office of Student Accounts. Options available to clear your student account include the following:
- Make full payment of all charges for each semester by the due dates established.
- Enroll in one of the University's payment plan.
- Utilize funds through financial aid sources.
If you wish to use federal, state or University grants and loans, all documentation must be cleared by the Financial Aid Office prior to the Office of Student Accounts providing account clearance.
Outside scholarships or personal loans cannot be included as financial aid unless official documentation is received by the Financial Aid Office. Documentation can include the following:
- Master Promissory Note (MPN) signed for all student loans
- Pennsylvania state grant notice of eligibility confirmed by the Financial Aid Office
- Federal grant eligibility confirmed by the Financial Aid Office
- Official letter(s) from outside scholarship donors
Master Promissory Note (MPN) - Federal Stafford Student Loans
- Students can electronically sign their MPN at the Student Accounts Office. By electronically signing, students can accelerate the release of loan proceeds.
Work-study and Student Apprenticeships: funds earned from either program cannot be applied towards a student account clearance. Students earn funds from these programs much like earnings from an off-campus job.
Late fees are assessed monthly to all delinquent accounts.
A hold on a student account may be placed on individual student accounts if there is an outstanding balance on that account. A hold on a student account prohibits students from registering for future semesters, from receiving official transcripts and/or receiving diplomas.
The University's billing process is as follows:
Four collection efforts are made by the University. Various methods are used to notify students of outstanding balances. If students do not respond in a timely manner to these collection efforts, the student account will be turned over to an outside collection agency. Collection costs may be assessed at that time.
