Michele Langbein, Ph.D., is an assistant professor and director of the Accelerated Business (Saturday Fast) program in the School of Business.  As director, she is responsible for program reviews/strategic planning, recruiting new faculty, supervising adjunct faculty, student advising, reviewing policies and procedures, handing student issues, and reviewing course syllabi for compliance. Before becoming director, Langbein was a student in the Saturday Fast and MBA programs.  She became passionate about the program because it allowed her to quickly earn her degree while working and balancing family life.

Langbein is a member of several committees at Point Park including curriculum and strategic planning.  She earned her Ph.D. from Robert Morris University in instructional management and leadership. She enjoys teaching and loves directing the program that has inspired to her to be whom she is today.

She has been teaching since 2002 at a variety of business schools and colleges.  Prior to teaching, Langbein worked as a human resource specialist and controller.

Research in Progress/ Current Projects

Michele L. Langbein, Ph.D, and director of the undergraduate Accelerated Business program presented "The Importance of Ethical Business Practices for Sustainability" and abstract entitled "The Impact of Web 2.0 Technologies on Business Sustainability"at the 2nd Annual "Sustainable Enterprises of the Future" International Conference Sept. 12-15, 2010 at Robert Morris University.

On June 29, 2010 Michele L. Langbein, Ph.D., presented the paper, "Podcasting Advantages & Disadvantages in Education" at the World Conference on Educational Multimedia, Hypermedia and Telecommunications 2010 in Toronto, Canada. In addition Langbein's article, "Outcomes Assessment" was published in Volume 8, Issue 3 of Academic Leadership, a peer-reviewed academic journal.

Michele L. Langbein, Ph.D, and director of the undergraduate Accelerated Business program successfully defended her dissertation on Nov. 3, 2009 entitled “THE EFFECTS OF AGE AND EXPERIENCE ON LEVELS OF LEADERSHIP PRACTICES OF NONTRADITIONAL UNDERGRADUATE MANAGEMENT STUDENTS”.   She completed her Ph.D. in instructional management and leadership at Robert Morris University. In fall 2009, she spoke as a Distinguished Lecturer at the Point Park University Convocation.  Langbein also completed Kouzes & Posner Leadership Challenge 4-day Workshop & Conference in Chicago, IL in August.
