What factors made you choose the SAEM program at Point Park?
I originally chose Point Park for its outstanding dance program and knew that I wanted to pair dancing with a business degree. Sports, arts and entertainment management instantly stood out to me when I was reviewing my options. I loved that it had the traditional business classes mixed in with industry related courses that for me applied to a passion I had been involved with my entire life -- dance. Once I got deeper into understanding the dynamics of the major and how interesting all three industries were, I felt 100 percent certain that I chose the right path.

How have all your internship experiences benefited you and what role has the SAEM program played?
I tried to get a variety of experiences when selecting internships to make sure I was getting a well-rounded exposure to various career options. A significant turning point was in my junior year was when I took a class in event management. I was far enough into my education that I was able to start noticing what my strengths and weaknesses were. I realized how much fun I had participating in class projects and that I wanted to pursue this as a career. From that point on, I found it beneficial to cater my internships to the event management path. Those internships and the SAEM specialized courses gave me the background knowledge I needed to apply to real-life situations and successfully achieve my first career goal of becoming an event coordinator.
What are your future career goals?
I want to keep learning as much as I can about the industries and continue gaining responsibilities with event production, consultation and creative projects.
