Conservatory of Performing Arts

Shirley Tannenbaum

Head of Acting
Associate Professor

Shirley Tannenbaum teaches acting, voice and speech, and is proud to serve as the head of the fine acting faculty here at Point Park. As an actor, Tannenbaum is a long-time member of Equity, AFTRA and SAG. Her many stage credits include appearances with the Playhouse REP, Pittsburgh Public Theatre, City Theatre, Pittsburgh Irish and Classical Theatre, and Pittsburgh Civic Light Opera.

Some favorite roles have been Kimberly in Kimberly Akimbo, Miss Margarida in Miss Margarida's Way, Kate in both Brighton Beach Memoirs and Broadway Bound, Dr. Livingstone in Agnes of God, Winnie in Happy Days, and Ruth in Collected Stories. Film and TV credits include Lorenzo's Oil with Susan Saradon and Blindspot with JoAnne Woodward.  

Directing credits include Talking With... (City Theatre), Ride Down Mt. Morgan (Jewish Theatre of Pgh.), Inherit the Wind (Prime Stage), and Ring Round the Moon,Three Sisters,Our Town, Skin of Our Teeth, and Our Country's Good for the Conservatory.
