Each year, a select group of Point Park University seniors travel and perform for casting directors, talent agents, managers and other industry professionals in New York City and Los Angeles.
The students represent some of the University’s top talent, having earned the chance to participate in the Showcases through highly competitive auditions. A panel of distinguished faculty and local industry professionals selects the students, who then take a Showcase class at the University twice a week to prepare. This year’s Showcases were directed by Point Park faculty Zeva Barzell and Shirley Tannenbaum (head of acting), and produced by John Shepard (Theatre Department chair).
Funding for both the L.A. and N.Y. showcases comes from The Conservatory Circle, a program created by Trustee and Advisory Board member John (Jack) Tomayko for small- and medium-size businesses to support the Conservatory of Performing Arts and its initiatives.
This was the sixth year for Point Park’s New York Showcase, and the second year for the Los Angeles Showcase.
