The Dirt on "The Dirt on You"
"The Dirt on You," a short film by faculty members from Point Park University's department of cinema & digital arts, was one of only 21 films selected for this year's Three Rivers Film Festival which takes place Nov. 7 - 22.
The collaborative effort includes cinema & digital arts faculty members Jeremy Braverman (writer, producer, and director), John Rice (director of photography) and Andrew Halasz (editor), as well as Conservatory of Performing Arts theatre department chair John Shepard (lead actor).
Shepard, who recently starred as Willy Loman in The REP's production of Death of a Salesman, plays Sam, an early retiree who finds himself in a bit of a slump. Now that he's made it to retirement, Sam doesn't know what to do with himself. To make matters worse, he suspects his wife Julia is having an affair. As Sam sets out to confirm his suspicions, his life crumbles around him. The only way he can save his marriage is to confront Julia and put the pieces back together. This dark comedy finds humor in its unflinching and honest depiction of a couple in crisis.
"The Dirt on You" will be screened in "Short Programs A" on Friday, Nov. 14 at 9:30 p.m. and Saturday, Nov. 22 at 2 p.m. Both screenings will be held at Pittsburgh Filmmakers's Melwood Screening Room in Oakland.
