Pittsburgh boasts a rich and wonderfully diverse arts scene, home to such great artists as Andy Warhol, August Wilson, Stephen Foster and Gene Kelly, just to name a few. The Point Park University campus sits just minutes from the Cultural District. In addition, there are more than 14 new cultural facilities within the district, including the newly opened August Wilson Center for African American Culture. So, no matter what you’re looking for, you can find it in Point Park's backyard.
Pittsburgh has a thriving theatre community with 10 Equity houses within a one-hour radius. There is also a Pittsburgh Special Appearance contract (min. $175 and pension) that smaller theatres regularly take advantage of. There is print, commercial and voice-over work, as well as student, industrial, independent and feature film. M.F.A. students can take advantage of these opportunities to add to their resumes, provided schedules can reasonably be accommodated.
