Criminal Justice and Intelligence Studies

Academic degrees offered through the Department emphasize the skills necessary for success in professional settings, including decision-making, critical thinking and oral/written/electronic communications. The importance of upholding strict ethical standards in the workplace is emphasized throughout the curricula.

The Department is a proactive leader in adult education, swiftly identifying and responding to the needs of the business community.

The Certificate in Intelligence and National Security will be open to non-degree seeking adults who are interested in enhancing their professional credentials in the field.  All coursework completed successfully will be applicable to the bachelor’s degree program if the student decides to pursue such at a later date.

The Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice, is offered in a traditional format, but is also available in accelerated and capstone  formats. This program is designed for those who want to enter the field of criminal justice or law enforcement.

The Bachelor of Science in Forensic Science, is geared toward preparing the student for work in most sections of the forensic laboratory, including trace, drugs, arson, toxicology, death investigations and work with DNA.

The Bachelor of Science in Intelligence & National Security degree program is designed to provide students with entry level career opportunities in the field of intelligence and national security. This baccalaureate program provides broad-based coursework that includes core courses, electives, a language component, and department requirements and electives. Critical thinking, analytical skills, communications, ethical behavior, decision making, technological skills, and strategic thinking are woven throughout the curriculum.

The Bachelor of Science in Law Enforcement is designed for working law enforcement personnel with a minimum of five years of professional experience and an associate degree or 60 transferable college credits. Offered on Saturdays, this degree completion program can be completed in a minimum of four consecutive semesters of study.

The Post-Baccalaureate Bachelor of Science in Intelligence and National Security program is open to students who have an undergraduate bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, a minimum cumulative Q.P.A. of 2.5, and who seek the second degree to supplement their credentials in the field.

The Master of Science in Criminal Justice Administration offers graduate coursework for criminal justice professionals as well as those interested in moving into this growing field.  This Saturday-only program is offered in an accelerated format and can be completed in one year.

The Criminal Justice and Intelligence Studies Department has strong ties to the business community through advisory boards, chambers of commerce, and regional learning organizations.
