About the Global Cultural Studies Public Speakers' Series
Since 2008, Point Park University’s School of Arts and Sciences and its global cultural studies program have hosted prominent speakers—such as Vandana Shiva and Ralph Nader—for its “An Evening With...” public speakers' series held annually each fall.
These acclaimed speakers address important global and domestic issues and have demonstrated an interest in deepening students’ knowledge of the world.
The aim of Point Park’s global cultural studies program is to provide students with an understanding of the complexities of the world in which we live, grounded in a familiarity with its historical, philosophical, political, social, cultural, aesthetic, and environmental elements; and the critical thinking and communication skills needed to make agile, confident, and informed decisions.
Vandana Shiva, Ph.D.
The global cultural studies major is offered through the Department of Humanities and Human Sciences.
