Program Accreditation

The Bachelor of Science degree program in electrical engineering has been designed to comply with all criteria of the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET (www.abet.org). The program is not yet accredited by ABET because this organization does not accredit new programs until they have produced graduates. The faculty will pursue accreditation as soon as possible after the first students are graduated from the program in May 2019. Once accreditation is conferred, it will be applied retroactively so that all students will hold a degree from an accredited program.

ABET-accredited programs have demonstrated their excellence during rigorous, objective, periodic reviews conducted by external evaluators. The laws related to the professional practice of engineering in most states give preference to graduates of ABET-accredited programs because the quality of their education is known. Students who are considering the study of engineering are encouraged to inquire whether prospective programs are currently accredited or are planning to seek accreditation.
