Associate Professor of Broadcasting
Anthony Moretti, Ph.D., joined the Point Park faculty in August 2005 after spending two years teaching at Texas Tech University. Moretti primarily teaches broadcast journalism courses.
Moretti earned his Ph.D. from the E.W. Scripps School of Journalism in 2004. He also holds a master’s degree in journalism from Ohio State University and a bachelor’s degree in sports information from the University of Southern California.
He says that his students are told the following on the first day of class: “I don’t treat my classrooms like classrooms. I treat them like newsrooms. And I don’t consider you to be students. I think of you as journalists.”
Moretti says that means he encourages his students to discuss what they think of the job the media are doing, and he expects his students to be aware of what is happening in the news.
He has a particular appreciation for the Olympic Games, and his dissertation focused on newspaper coverage of the Olympic Movement and the Olympic Games from 1948 through 1988.
Moretti spent almost 13 years in the broadcast industry as a reporter and producer. He worked in southern California and Ohio in both radio and television and covered numerous news and sports events during those years.
