“The Point” in downtown Pittsburgh has long represented the coming together of potential and opportunity, resulting in centuries of innovation and success. And so this striking, historic location is an apt symbol for the exciting things going on today in the Point Park School of Communication. Experienced professors bring real-world professional savvy and leading edge scholarship to the study of journalism, public relations, broadcasting, advertising, and to the art and craft of 21st Century media design and production. Like the inventors, artists and craftspeople before us, we at Point Park University benefit immensely from location and resources. With the city of Pittsburgh as our campus, Communication students and faculty participate in one of the nation’s richest, most innovative, and culturally significant media environments.
Traditional mass media are being transformed by new technologies barely imagined a generation ago. The ways in which we communicate have changed at a dizzying pace in recent years, and yet the new world of interactive communication is still in its infancy. From day one, Point Park Communication students benefit from specialized courses and student media opportunities. Before long they find themselves filling leadership positions and embarking on professional internships. The School’s major degree plans offer serious, time-tested grounding in the essential theoretical and practical subjects necessary for success in media careers. But the programs are also designed to prepare the Point Park Communication graduate for “whatever comes next,” in the industries, and for lifelong learning in the fast-paced world of the communication professional.
The timely coming together of potential and opportunity: there is no better recipe for success.
