The future is here and it's changing the face of journalism. Fewer Americans are subscribing to print publications as more turn to the Internet for their news and feature and entertainment information. Broadcast media have ramped up their Web sites to include information from their news shows and additional stories they can't cover in the time allotted. For example, the percentage of people who read newspapers online is growing rapidly, especially among younger generations. As journalists, we need to learn to work in this new and exciting environment. If you love learning new things and enjoy exploring the latest technologies like Facebook, Twitter, digital cameras and You Tube videos, then online journalism is the right concentration for you.
With so much to choose from on the Web, good writing and reporting skills are more important than ever. The online journalism concentration will combine both journalistic writing and Web technologies to train students to be true digital media specialists.
Digital media internships are available at a number of media, nonprofit, agency, governmental and corporate locations in the area and beyond.
