International Students

Point Park's Office of International Student Services (ISS) and Enrollment assists International students with immigration issues, education and cultural aspects of study in the U.S. We also promote campus-wide international awareness by fostering diversity and by helping students understand their responsibilities as global citizens. In order to provide Point Park’s International student population with specialized services that foster academic success and cultural adjustment, we sponsor both Immigration Services and ISS Programs.

Immigration Services

In order to study in the U.S., International students must obtain a visa prior to leaving their country. The American visa system can seem daunting at times, but don’t worry. The process for obtaining a student visa is actually very straightforward. The ISS Office is here to help. We can assist with:

  • Immigration advising
  • Visa compliance issues
  • Coordination of deferred payment plans
  • Scholarships and financial assistance

ISS Programs

International students make great sacrifices—including leaving behind friends, families, favorite foods, and lifestyles. To help them adjust and maximize their time at Point Park, the ISS office sponsors events and activities—on and off campus—to help acclimate international students to their new community. We also promote cultural exchange with the goal of helping to bridge cultural gaps. Some of our programs include:

  • New international students’ orientation
  • International Club advisement
  • Coordination of trips and cultural events
  • International Week celebrations

The International Club

The International Club is a student-run organization that fosters cultural understanding between American and International students through fun, educational events. Some of the most popular programs include:

  • Monthly Cultural Snapshots:  Members of the University community are invited to learn about a specific country directly from a native student,
  • Annual International Week: This weeklong event celebrates cultures from around the world and culminates with an evening of international foods and great performances.
  • Short outings such as a ski trip to Seven Springs and a trip to Niagara Falls.
