Financial aid is based in part on the student and family's documented income and circumstances. If there is a change in the family's finances after the financial aid application is completed, the Office of Financial Aid may recalculate your eligibility based on anticipated income for the next year.

These following examples are circumstances that can be appealed:

  • Loss of job for at least 10 weeks
  • Reduction of income for at least 10 weeks
  • Reduction of child support
  • Separation or divorce
  • Any other financial circumstances that may affect the student attending Point Park University

This type of appeal, due to an extenuating circumstance, will be reviewed by the director of financial aid after after all required documentation is collected. The review process can take up to three weeks. Once a decision is determined, a formal letter will be sent via U.S. mail with the outcome.

To appeal your financial aid due to an extenuating circumstance, please visit the financial aid forms page and look for the links to Special Conditions Worksheets. Worksheets are specific to the academic year and to the student dependency status, so be sure to choose the one that fits your situation.

Appealing for Additional Financial Aid

Students also may submit an appeal for additional financial aid in situations that do not pertain to an extenuating circumstance as listed above.

To begin an appeal for additional financial aid, students and families may log into PointWeb, click on "financial aid" and "online forms." Complete the online appeal form, which will be sent automatically to financial aid inbox. We will need a detailed description of the student's circumstances and need for additional assistance. Point Park's financial aid appeals committee reviews appeals every week and shares its decisions in a formal letter through U.S. Mail as promptly as possible.
