Each year, the Point Park University Alumni Association Board of Directors presents the Distinguished Student Award to one graduating undergraduate student, graduating master's student, and graduating doctoral student. The Board is in search of students who are great assets to the Point Park community as a whole.

 

Criteria Per Award:

  • Undergraduate: academic excellence, exemplary character, extracurricular academic involvement
  • Graduate: academic excellence, volunteerism/community service/extracurricular academic involvement, and exemplary character
  • Doctoral: academic excellence, volunteerism/community service, and exemplary character

 

Criteria Descriptions:

  • Academic Excellence: Student must have a 3.5 GPA or higher and demonstrated ability to perform, achieve, and/or excel in scholastic activities.
  • Exemplary Character: Nominators are encouraged to focus on one or two attributes that make this person a unique example to others, such as perseverance, courage, selfless service to others, optimism in the face of a challenge, humility, a positive attitude, etc.
  • Extracurricular Academic Involvement: Student activities that do not count towards an academic credit, are participated in outside of class and could include arts, athletics, personal commitments, etc.
  • Volunteerism/Community Service: The considerable contribution made by a student through their volunteer activity over a period of two semesters or more.

Point Park faculty or staff members may nominate a student who fulfills the criteria by completing the form below. Once a student is nominated, the Office of University Advancement will reach out to the student for more information, including a resume and personal statement.

Submissions for the 2023-2024 Distinguished Student Awards are due no later than February 12, 2024.
