Point Park University Athletics holds inaugural induction for Chi Alpha Sigma

PITTSBURGH -- Point Park University athletics held its inaugural induction to the Chi Alpha Sigma National College Athlete Honor Society on Friday, March 18, 2011 in a luncheon at the Engineers' Society in downtown Pittsburgh.

Twenty-seven Point Park student-athletes were inducted for outstanding achievement in academics and athletics, and they were the first class to be inducted from Point Park. Juniors and seniors with high academic achievements were eligible. Juniors received an induction pin while seniors received the pin as well as an honor cord to wear during their upcoming graduation ceremony in May.

Point Park University is the 18th college or university in Pennsylvania to join affiliation with the National College Athlete Honor Society. Point Park will be known as the Rho Chapter of Chi Alpha Sigma.

On hand to offidially induct the student athletes were Point Park's Senior VP of Academic and Student Affairs and the Dean of Faculty Dr. Karen McIntyre as well as Faculty Athletic Representative Dr. Darlene Marnich. Dean of Students Keith Paylo was a guest speaker and Assistant A.D. Michelle Coultas served as the emcee.
