KINGSPORT, Tenn. -- NAIA No. 23-ranked Point Park University is the No. 1 seed in the KIAC Baseball Tournament April 23-26, 2014 in Kingsport, Tenn. The six-team, double-elimination tournament will be held at Hunter Wright Stadium, home of the Kingsport Mets, and the winner will get the conference's automatic bid to the NAIA naitonal tournament.

Point Park (35-13, 16-4 KIAC), which won the KIAC regular season title by 2.0 games over No. 2 seed Brescia (Ky.) (35-20, 14-6 KIAC), is seeking its second straight KIAC Tournament championship and its third straight trip to the NAIA national tournament.

The Pioneers dropped down one spot to No. 23 in the NAIA Baseball Coaches' Top 25 Poll released on Tuesday (April 22), but they have their eye on locking up the KIAC's automatic bid as one of the 45 teams in the NAIA National Championship Opening Round May 12-15 at campus sites around the country.

Point Park won the KIAC Tournament last year, its first season in the conference. After a bye in the first round of the 2014 tournament, the Pioneers begin their quest for a repeat with their first game on Thursday, April 24 at 11 a.m. versus the winner of the No. 4-seed Berea (Ky.) (20-21, 8-12 KIAC) vs. No. 5-seed Asbury (Ky.) (10-31, 6-14 KIAC) matchup, the first game of the tournament on April 23 at 5 p.m.

The other first-round game features No. 3 seed IU Southeast (29-21, 11-9 KIAC) vs. No. 6 seed Alice Lloyd (Ky.) (15-19-1, 5-15 KIAC) on April 23 at 8 p.m. No. 2 seed Brescia (35-20, 14-6 KIAC) awaits the winner of that game in the second round on April 24 at 2 p.m.

The tournament continues through April 26 with the championship round on Saturday at 1 p.m., and if necessary, at 3 p.m.
