Bodnar, Sauers selected for Carolina-Virginia league All-Star game for W.V. Wild

HICKORY, N.C. – Point Park University baseball players Lee Bodnar and Dillon Sauers were selected to play in the Carolina-Virginia Summer Collegiate League All-Star game played July 16, 2011 in Hickory, N.C. Bodnar is a third baseman from Scott Township and Chartiers Valley High School, and Sauers is a shortstop from Bridgeville and South Fayette High School. Both players are members of the West Virginia Wild this summer in the Carolina-Virginia league.

Bodnar, who will be a senior for Point Park this coming year, is hitting .309 with two home runs and 23 RBIs for the Wild. For Point Park, he has been named all-conference first team the last two years. Bodnar hit .351 with six homers and a team-high 52 RBIs in 2011.

Sauers, also a rising senior at Point Park for the 2011-12 year, is hitting .360 with 17 RBIs and an impressive .945 OPS for West Virginia this summer. He has started at shortstop for Point Park for two years, and he hit .355 with 23 RBIs this past season.

The CVSCL All-Star game was played at L.P. Frans Stadium, the home of the Hickory Crawdads in Hickory, N.C.  The West Virginia Wild was 16-15 as of July 18, and it continues play July 19 with two games in Athens, Ga.
