PITTSBURGH -- Junior left-hander Jason Kim was named the KIAC Baseball Pitcher of the Week by the conference office on Monday. Kim, from La Crescenta, Calif., had two complete games in two starts last week for No. 21 Point Park.
Kim's pitching line for the week had him 2-0 with a 0.64 ERA in 14 innings, eight hits, two runs, one earned run, one walk and 12 strikeouts.
Kim, who picked up his second KIAC Pitcher of the Week award on the season, racked up a career-high nine strikeouts compared to just one walk in a complete-game victory at Rio Grande on April 6. That start including three hits and no earned runs across his seven innings.
In his second victory of the Week, Kim beat Brescia (Ky.), 2-1, in another important conference win on April 12. He again went all seven innings and gave up just one run on five hits. Kim, who shut out Brescia the first six innings, struck out three and walked none.
With his performance last week, Kim is now 6-1 in seven starts with a 2.61 ERA. He has four complete games in 41.1 innings pitched to go along with 25 strikeouts and just five walks.
Kim leads the Pioneers (29-6, 14-2 KIAC) and also leads the KIAC with six victories. He is third in the conference in ERA. He also leads the KIAC in opponent batting average at .241.
