ROCKY CAPOBIANCO -- Associate Baseball Head Coach (7th Year)
Rocky Capobianco is in his seventh season as an assistant coach for the Point Park baseball team. The Penn Hills, Pa., native finished up his two-year playing career for the Pioneers in 2008 and then joined the coaching staff the next season.
Capobianco has been an instrumental part of the resurgence of Point Park baseball within the NAIA ranks. After six years as the top assistant coach, he remains in that role for his seventh year of 2015 and has added the title of Associate Baseball Head Coach in January 2015.
Coach Capobianco's responsbilities within the team include serving as positional coach for the outfielders, serving as first-base coach on gameday and assisting with all aspects of the program. He is also in charge of the Pioneers' strength and conditioning programs.
Capobianco has presided over one of the top outfields in the conference during his time at Point Park. His outfield has registered at least one Gold Glove winner within the conference every year he's been at Point Park. Outfielders to earn all-conference honors under Capobianco include Kyle Lucot, Brian Grise, Tom Pasinski, Rob Novia, Don McDuffee, Javy Marticorena and Jordan Crowell.
Capobianco was an outfielder and a pitcher for Point Park, and he was a team captain as a senior in 2008. He spent the first two years of his playing career at national power Marietta (Ohio), and he was a member of Marietta's NCAA Division III national championship team in 2006.
Capobianco was a four-year starter for the Penn Hills High School baseball team. He finished his career with the Indians in 2004. Capobianco earned a bachelor's degree in sports, arts and entertainment management from Point Park in 2009.
