PITTSBURGH -- Point Park University freshman Eric Torres continued his claim on the KIAC Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week award by receiving the honor for the fourth time in five weeks on Monday (Sept. 29).
Torres, from Robstown, Texas, has won the KIAC weekly award in every week that the Pioneers have competed in a meet. The only time that he did not receive the honor, Point Park was off the week of Sept. 1-7.
Torres' performance at the NCAA Division II Lock Haven Invitational on Saturday registered a career-best time in the 8K. Torres placed 21st of 199 runners with a time of 26:23, his fastest time in the three 8K races so far this year.
Saturday's race also placed Torres with the fourth-fastest 8K time in program history and the fastest time registered by a Point Park men's runner in four years.
After a week off, Torres and the Pioneers return to action Oct. 11 at the Carnegie Mellon Invitational in Schenley Park.
