PITTSBURGH -- Point Park University sophomore Heath Hougas was named the KIAC Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week for Oct. 6-12 as announced by the conference office on Monday (Oct. 13).

Hougas, a native of Morris, Ill., who is in his first year at Point Park since transferring from St. Norbert College, ran his best race of the year Oct. 11 at Carnegie Mellon. He set a career-best time of 26:45 in the 8K to place 29th of 173 runners.

This is the fifth time in seven weeks this year that Point Park has claimed the KIAC Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week award by one of its runners. Hougas joins four-time winner Eric Torres as honorees this year.

Point Park is next in action this Friday, Oct. 17 at the Wilmington (Ohio) Invitational. The meet will be attended by several KIAC schools to offer a preview of the KIAC Championship Meet hosted by Point Park Nov. 8 in Schenley Park.
