PITTSBURGH -- Point Park University freshman Katie Guarnaccia has been named the KIAC Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week, announced the conference office on Monday (Sept. 22).
It is the first weekly award in the career of Guarnaccia, a freshman from North Allegheny High School. It is also the first time a Point Park women's runner was tabbed for the honor this season.
Guarnaccia placed 10th of 125 runners on Sept. 20 at the St. Vincent Invitational. She led Point Park to second place of 17 teams as the Pioneers lost only to the University of Pittsburgh.
Guarnaccia's time of 20:44 in the 5K race put her as the only runner in the Top 10 not from Pitt or an NCAA Division II school.
Point Park returns to action this weekend, Sept. 27 at the Lock Haven Invitational. Follow the Pioneers on Twitter @PointParkSports
