Rono's best time of the year leads Pioneers at CMU Invite

PITTSBURGH - Reuben Rono (pictured below) turned in his best time of the year Saturday, and the Point Park University men's cross country team placed 13th of 14 teams at the Carnegie Mellon Invitational.
A sophomore from Kapsabet, Kenya, Rono registered time of 28:34 to place 71st out of 153 runners. Rono's career best time of 28:16 earned him a third-place finish and set a Point Park freshman record at last year's Pitt-Greensburg Invitational.
The best time by a Point Park runner this year was turned in by freshman Dylan Grunn (Honesdale/Abington Heights), who turned in a time of 28:24 at the Waynesburg Invitational Sept. 12. On Saturday, Grunn ran the 8K race in 29:36.
Finishing third for Point Park was Andrew Witchey (Lower Burrell/St. Joseph) who placed 112th, with a time of 31:01. Chris Kennedy (32:56), Riley Faison (36:02), and Chuck Nicholls (41:10) also ran for Point Park.
Point Park travels to the Walsh Invitational Oct. 24. The men's race starts a 11:45 a.m.
