Sept. 11, 2010
WAYNESBURG, Pa. -- For the first time in the program's history, the Point Park University men's cross country team placed three runners under the 29-minute mark as the Pioneers finished seventh of 10 teams at the Waynesburg Invitational Saturday.
Team Results , Individual Results
Andrew Rowland (Pittsburgh/Fox Chapel) led the Pioneers with a 12th-place finish after completing the 8K race with a time of 27:12.
Dylan Grunn (Honesdale, Pa./Abington Heights) placed 24th with a time of 28:14, and Reuben Rono (Kapsabet, Kenya) was 29th at 28:38.
In a meet last season, Point Park had Grunn, Rono and Andrew Witchey all turn in times under 30 minutes, and as of that date, it was the first time that the Pioneers were able to pull that feat. But this year, they have bested that showing by one minute.
Rounding out Point Park's top five on Saturday were Andrew Witchey (30:46) and Jon Rohlf (31:12). Other competitors for the Pioneers were Chris Kennedy (31:13), Ian McIntosh (32:26) and Joe DeWitt (35:42).
The Pioneers are off next week, and they visit the St. Vincent Invitational Sept. 25.
