ERIE, Pa. -- The Point Park University men's cross country team placed four runners under 29 minutes for the first time ever and came in 6th of 17 teams at the Penn State-Behrend Invitational on Saturday.
The Pioneers were led by Dylan Grunn, a senior, who placed fifth individually with a time of 26 minutes, 40 seconds in the 8K race. It is the second strong showing in as many races for Grunn, who placed second overall at last week's Waynesburg meet with a then-personal record of 26:55.
Freshman Zane Kravec, from North Huntindgon, Pa., placed 39th with a time of 28:40. Sophomore Jon Rohlf (Brownsville, Pa.) and freshman Eric Engel (St. Louis, Mo.) were 45th and 46th overall with times of 28:57 and 28:58, respectively.
Connor Mulvaney was the fifth Point Park runner to cross the finish line at 29:14 and just missed the Pioneers placing five runners under 29 minutes. Chris Kennedy (30:22), Ian McIntosh (31:40), Adam Freeman (33:12) and Dan Kelley (34:31) rounded out the Point Park contingent.
The Pioneers compete again next Saturday, Sept. 22 at the St. Vincent meet. After that event, Point Park is off until Oct. 6 at Carnegie Mellon.
